1 Kings 19 – Don’t Look Back

I continue to burn the ships of my old religious ways and try to see everything through Jesus eyes now… In Luke 9:61 we read “Yet another said, “I will follow you, Lord, but let me first say farewell to those at my home” This was very similar to what Elisha said to Elijah.
in Luke 9:62 Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God….Then in 1 Kings 21…”And he returned from following him and took the yoke of oxen and sacrificed them and boiled their flesh with the yokes of the oxen and gave it to the people, and they ate.”
So for me it seemed like Elisha wanted to be “fit” to go with Elijah and do Gods work so he took the “plow” as referenced in Luke… and well, just didn’t take his hand off it, he burned it! There was important work to do and ther was no looking back.
