Abandoned the Counsel

2 Chronicles 10: 7 And they said to him, “If you will be good to this people and please them and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants forever.” 8 But he abandoned the counsel that the old men gave him, and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him and stood before him.

It’s easy to see in Rehoboam’s scenario he should have taken the advice of His father Solomon’s old counsel rather than following the cruel advice of his friends.

There are many times in my life where advice doesn’t end up being so clear and I am lost in a stalemate of two seemingly consequential options.

Other times I feel like any decision I make is the wrong one despite my desire to make the right one.

I pray today that we are given the wisdom to make our decisions with God’s love in our hearts and not fear or anger.
