2nd Chron 10 – Listen for Wisdom and Lead by Example

Sometime is it nicer to hear what we want to hear rather than what we’re supposed to hear…and sometimes it even makes it seem better for us if what we want to hear is coming from friends.

Even if we know that’s really not what we’re supposed to be doing or where we are supposed to be going….. any direction against the moral and motive compass says that we’re not following the Lord and we’re not seeking His wisdom and direction… and because of that somebody in this chapter lost a chance to rule a kingdom…..SO, what kingdoms am I missing out on because I’m not listen to the Lord?

What rewards or opportunities am I missing out on because I am listening to my friends and not the Word?!

For me the most important part of this chapter came from my father’s point of view from “v14 King Rehoboam spoke to them according to the counsel of the young men, saying, “My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it. My father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions.”

His son must’ve only seen how his father was a harsh ruler …maybe Reheboam didn’t see the whole picture of his dad … I guess he didn’t see opportunities and ways to live a life of influence a proper way .. because he didn’t think that whips were harsh enough …he wanted to use scorpions (probably just a matter of speaking I would think)..

It makes me as a father want to be certain my son is a witness to a full spectrum if my emotions and reactions to life in healthy situations (and as clean mouthed as possible) And not just about things that upset me or get in my way but my attitude towards things should be positive, even if

I’m not feeling 100% positive about going to work on Monday morning or having extra loads of laundry to do or having to sit and do a lot of paper bill or e-paying….. Instead of verbalizing my frustration during those things I should be saying “we sure are lucky that we have cable to watch” and “we sure are blessed with the ability to afford these luxuries” and “I sure am lucky to have a job in these times to help to be able to provide and have the opportunity to use the gifts God gave me” having my son hear these things will help build a positive attitude towards everything that life throws at him

Thank you Lord for showing me this again in your truth!
