“11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
It’s funny that we were talking about the prosperity prophecy or prosperity gospel to attract people and I learned that this is a passage that is referred to a lot to show promise of better finances or promotions or freedom from addiction etc.
It’s very important to remember the context in which this passage was written. This was God talking about something that wasn’t gonna happen for another 70 years, and not for just a person but for the nation …quite different from the false prophet who said two years.
We can make any kind of plan that we want, however, that makes things centred for ourselves.. Wait a minute…. aren’t we supposed to be centring our life’s around God?! Not like.. make plans and ask for God to make it work for us, but rather bring up our ideas and desires to God like our Father and ask Him which is the best direction and hope that we get an answer with some guidance.
As He is doing His great work we may not even understand why or how He is doing it …just like the people were wondering why Babylon of all places should come in to rule? He was using Babylon to teach the Israelites a lesson… they just couldn’t see it at the time, they cannot understand it, but then I always like to say “I don’t understand to believe, I believe to understand.”
in chapter 30-17 “For I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will heal”Another beautiful reminder of how God loves to restore and heal us even if we are flagrant repeated sinners. That was repeated in lines 15 and 16 in case you missed that. Pain and guilt and sin, Gods specialty!
