Jeremiah 12:1 Righteous are you, O Lord,
when I complain to you;
yet I would plead my case before you.
Why does the way of the wicked prosper?
Why do all who are treacherous thrive?
2 You plant them, and they take root;
they grow and produce fruit;
you are near in their mouth
and far from their heart.
I can’t deny I envy the rich at times, even though I know their overindulging lifestyle would make me miserable inside.
I have lived a season of my life, before I was saved, where I splurged on myself by buying and collecting everything I wanted when I wanted it. All it made me feel was empty, wasteful and guilty.
I can’t imagine others looking at me and my possessions with much more than confusion as to why I insisted on buying the things I did. Not to mention the stress that came with trying to keep up with my peers.
Today I find the most fulfilling things come from relationships. Spending time with loved ones and creating memories. Showing God’s love through sacrifice each day builds up our souls and moves good into the world through the spirit.
