Mark 14: 34 And he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death. Remain here and watch.” 35 And going a little farther, he fell on the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. 36 And he said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”
These verses always stir my heart. Whenever I go through a difficult season in life and feel like I am suffering I recall Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane.
Jesus suffered more than most of us will ever understand. During this time I feel Jesus gives us a lesson in the way He talks to God. He is honest about how He feels in His circumstances but He continues to submit to God’s will for His life.
We don’t always feel like we can continue, like Jesus but our choice to wait or to endure shows our true devotion to God. Our feelings don’t always dictate our character for not even Christ could control the fear He felt the moments up to His death.
As our world faces more trials I pray we all stand strong in Christ, praying in open and honest relation to our Father in heaven who cares for all the things that bring us joy and sorrow.
