From the Inside Out

Mark 7: 14 And he called the people to him again and said to them, “Hear me, all of you, and understand: 15 There is nothing outside a person that by going into him can defile him, but the things that come out of a person are what defile him.”

Jesus rebuked the Pharisees many times over. Mainly for forcing rituals and rules on their people created by the elders of Isreal. The rulest began with good intentions but eventually lost their heart and which was traded for power and outward presentations.

Every now and then I need to check my heart. What am I doing or saying this for? Is it to win hearts for God or do I want glory for myself and the things I do?

One of my daily prayers is for God’s holiness to fill me. I know I don’t always walk in it but if I ask for God’s voice to speak through me I know I have less chance to defile myself with my words and actions.

On my own I get emotional and petty and that’s never good for anyone. With Easter coming up its a good time to reflect on the daily impact Jesus’s passion did for all His followers.
