Mark 6: 49 but when they saw him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, and cried out, 50 for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”
This verse in Mark 6 reminded me of the similar telling in Matthew, where Peter walls on the water with Jesus:
Matthew 14: 27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” 28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” 29“Come,” he said.
I started a new buisness venture this weekend. It was a soft launch for a series of purely digital gaming supplements I am writing and illustrating.
The story of Jesus calling Peter onto the water struck my heart. I am scared my time investment will he wasted. I’m scared that maybe Jesus hasn’t called me to run my own business. I worry maybe I’m a fool for starting a company now, despite the sudden boom in gaming at home.
Despite the worry the a phrase keeps rolling in my head: “if you want to walk on water you need to step out of the boat.”
The only way to know how things will go, good or bad, is to take the first step and get out of the boat. I love the work I do and I want to share it with others and over time perhaps things will grow.
If anyone is curious the site I launched is called kravenskeep.com
