Can God’s calling cause fear? This question is rolling around my thoughts today. Is the fear I have currently from the enemy, trying to stop me from my God given path? Or is it from God, meant as a warning to keep me safe?
It’s difficult to decipher but it is worth noting we were never promised easy or comfortable lives as Christians. We were promised new life, joy giving life and eternal salvation.
I still get joy confused with happiness. Joy, the sort that comes from Christ, isn’t about our emotional state. It is about our relationship to God.
Theopedia describes it as “a state of mind and an orientation of the heart. It is a settled state of contentment, confidence and hope.” Pastor Rick Warren defines it : “Joy is the settled assurance that God is in control of all the details of my life, the quiet confidence that ultimately everything is going to be alright, and the determined choice to praise God in every situation.”
In reality that isn’t going to mean we are happy all the time. Being happy all the time is impossible. Our joy is a belief that everything will turn out even if it doesn’t feel that way.
I pray for peace in everyone’s hearts today, I pray you all remember the gift of Christ’s joy and remain strong in what ever difficult situation you find yourself in.
What a hope-filled, joy-filled post. I love it! It’s truly a revelation from God to you….a gift.
