I have always found if I want anything done right that I have to do it by myself. Trust is a big issue when it comes to delegating responsibility that’s going to reflect upon me and my service as a professional.
Moses in this case was taking on all the responsibility of judging and testing people against Gods laws and virtues himself . He May never have thought to share some of that responsibility thinking he wouldn’t want to disappoint his boss!
Jethro suggested that that responsibility be delegated amongst trusted people who are in the same mindset. So Moses was able to let go of some of the responsibility and delegate and he still had to deal with the major issues but all the small little problems could be handled by trusted elders.
I don’t think that there’s ever been one case I’ve had to hand my responsibilities over to somebody else with complete confidence that it would be done exactly the way I would do it…but that does not mean that it still wasn’t getting done and done right. Just because it wasn’t done the way I wanted it, doesn’t mean it’s wrong. Moses, his main concern would just have been that whoever he was trusting the Lord laws with that they should be completely God centered and followed exactly the way God wants it
Jethro helped Moses let go of that personal kind of power and remember it’s all for God, then it was probably easier to delegate responsibility with trust
Sometimes advice can be day changing, game changing or completely life-changing. I carry advice with me that I’ve picked up over the course of my life and when given the opportunity I pass it on because I know it’s only done me good so itcould do another brother good. I love good advice, love sharing it and I love receiving it. Do you have any to give somebody today? And don’t be afraid to share responsibility! See these two scriptural quotes.
Proverbs 15:22 Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed
Ephesians 4:12 “To equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ” this is like the gathering of the trusted people to help with the testing. Building up the Body of The church.
